Nice little review from signalstonoise:-

Saw the legendary chaps of Against Me last night in Norwich.  Picked up the new 7” (and I hardly EVER buy vinyl, but “Russian Spies” is too good not to own - click on the photo to hear it!!!).  To my ears, Tom Gabel is far better at writing pop-rock songs than folk songs.  Everything he’s done in the last few years is proof of that, and so I was a little disappointed that they didn’t play more songs from “White Crosses,” but given the amount of shit they get from closed-minded older fans about the new material, I guess it made sense to play a lot of old stuff - still, it all sounded better than on record and they were fucking awesome (as were Crazy Arm, a band I’ve never really given a chance before now - picked up their new album and saw their singer play a rousing solo acoustic set in a bar afterwards!), really looked like they were having fun on stage, so everyone’s a winner!  Weirdest moment of the night has to go to opening band Electric River though - who knew “Rock the Casbah” would work with a shred solo in it?!  Although the less said about the guitarist’s horrific posing, the better…
