Rode up to the new Norwich skatepark at Eaton Park today to see how its coming along. Looks like the finishing date of May could be within in grasp, with most of the coping in place and concrete already laid on the horizontal sections. More photos below.

The Automatic, Norwich Arts Centre, Photos

March 23rd, 2010 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

It’s rare to see a band at the Norwich Arts Centre after seeing them twice at the UEA LCR, however for The Automatic I’ll consider it a treat to get to see them at such an intimate venue. Kick starting the evening with recent single Interstate which the vocal reminds me heavily of James Dean Bradfield. Quickly firing through old favourites such Raoul and Recover, along with a few new tunes. Monster appeared mid set to a rather lacklustre crowd response (shame on you Norwich). However set closer Steve McQueen was met with a much better response, so perhaps the young crowd are recently acquired fans.

Lets see The Automatic return soon to a larger stage and a fuller crowd, in the mean time we’ll enjoy the new album Tear The Signs Down.

The Welsh rockers The Automatic are heading to the Norwich Arts Centre on 22nd March to play us some new tunes from their forthcoming third album, Tear The Signs Down. Hopefully also playing some of their older greats like Monster, Steve McQueen and Raoul. I managed to ask the band a few questions ahead of the gig.

Sheringham Skatepark Design Chosen

March 17th, 2010 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

The winning design for the new concrete Sheringham Skatepark has been chosen after the public vote last weekend. Maverick Industries, were the winning contractor who created Scarborough, Merthyr and Dorchester skateparks which all look bangin! I’m personally not too sure on the sail boat in the middle but the rest looks pretty cool.

Barcelona Tommy Update

Tommy May - Ginger Slide

Here’s another sequence I’ve been sitting on for a little while, that Tommy May sent me over from Barcelona. I believe it was shot by Thomas Winkle or Charles Neilson, I’m sure someone will soon correct me. The trick is what Tommy’s calling a “Ginger Slide” and it can be seen at the start of the video below.

So this article has been sitting on my hard drive for a long while now (Since October 2009 to be precise) this was because I’ve been meaning to go back and shoot a few more photos. Hopefully I’ll get down there and do that soon, then I’ll update this and let you guys know about. In the meantime have a butchers at these photos and getting down to the park if you can soon.

March 9th, 2010 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

Well it’s the start of that time of year where all the summer music festivals announce their line-ups and Latitude announced the headlines this evening. The three main headliners on the Obelisk arena are Florence and the Machine, Belle and Sebastian and Vampire Weekend. Others confirmed include Empire of The Sun, The Maccabees, The Horrors, The National, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Grizzly Bear, The XX and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Some non-music acts to note include the brilliant poet John Cooper Clarke, comedian Rich Hall, the grumpy Arthur Smith is appearing in the Literary Arena and the nabokov theatre group.
