Thursday night saw a rather good line-up for the Tilting Sky night at the Waterfront. Lost Levels topping the bill, followed by Platform One, Collider (Due to The Depot pulling out) and Lowestoft’s Faster Than Robots. Check out the photos from the whole night on my flickr. Be sure to head along to the next Tilting Sky night on Tuesday 9th June at the Waterfront with The Loyal Few, The Barlights, The Daylight Faded and The Delaney.

Lookbooks
May 27th, 2009 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

Coloured paper, scissors, black and white printers are all part of a fun night in for me. So I’ve created some little 8 page mini books in various colours, with a bunch of photos from the upcoming issue 2 of City and Sticks which should drop very soon. These lookbooks will be available in Drift and Smash from Saturday however be quick as I’ve only made 5 for each shop.
Latitude Update: We have a whole bunch of new additions for Latitude including Vivienne Westwood and Peter Blake in the Literary Arena and Datarock on the Obelisk Arena. Check out the Latitude page for more info.

Stupidly Big Ollie from Steve Malet
This Bank Holiday weekend turned out rather productive for skating, managing to get a decent skate in a find (or build) a few new things to skate in the city. Take a look at a few of the photos from the weekend and also check out my flickr for the non-skate photos too.

Toy a Day
May 24th, 2009 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

Another day, another fun website for you to look at. This time the rather cool Toy-a-Day blog, which describes itself as “A year long project. Whereby I will be making and posting a paper toy, every day for a year” I found the site via We Love You So with a Where the Wild Things are post about the above toy.
Other News: I’ve been busy with my printer and some coloured paper again, so keep your eyes on here for more about that soon.
This Isn’t Happiness

Thought I’d share this lovely little blog I flick through on a regular basis. It tends to have an interesting mix of graphic design, retro photos and film stills and much more. With links to where they were found. Have fun.
The Barlights – If it Wasn’t for the Light…
May 22nd, 2009 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

I went to see The Barlights at their album launch a while ago at the Arts Centre, where they impressed me so much I bought their album for £3.67 (drunken haggling with my change from the night). I’ve been listening to If It Wasn’t For The Light, The Dark Would Have Killed Us, ever since and it’s still impressing me. I’m even finding myself reciting lyrics from their rather catchy songs. Head on over to NRONE Records website and buy the album for £5. Then stand out tracks Sometimes, Bend and Break and When I’m Bored will soon be embedded in your mind.
Listen to The Barlights on iTunes.
Return of the Stickers

I’ve been playing with my printer once again and this time I’ve gone out and bought some fancy yellow sticker paper! Keep an eye out in Smash Skates or Drift Skateshop for them soon.
Other news: we have yet another Latitude Page update with more bands confirmed, including Bombay Bicycle Club which I’m rather happy about!

Saffron Walden Skatepark

Sam - Treating the Pool Coping to a Hand Down Front Rock
Well the skatepark may have been open for ages now and we initially went to Harlow, but nonetheless here’s a little article about Saffron Walden’s rather gnarly skatepark. So we started at a rather busy Harlow then headed back up the M11 to Saffron Walden, which was a lot less busy, I’m sure we’ll get back down to Harlow to do an article there too sometime soon.
