Printed Magazine’s are Still Good

As you may have already read elsewhere SLAP are going to stopping printing the magazine and concentrate purely on their website, which in all honesty is the way a lot of magazines could do over the next year, as companies try to tighten budgets. I mean to a bean counter accountant type the first thing you look at would be the biggest costs, which when you publish a magazine is the printing.

Font Envy
August 21st, 2008 by Stephen Keable · No Comments
When you work for a design studio within a large company, you tend to be limited to a selection of good fonts amongst thousands of boring and ubiquitous ones. These are a few fonts I wish we had but I know probably never will.

These little plastic “toy” cameras, are great fun the one to the left, I picked up from a jumble sale for a quid. You can also find them in charity shops, car boot sales and of course on eBay.

Fear of Falling

If you skate or have ever skated, you will sympathise with these few shots, where things don’t quite go to plan. I’m not a fan of slams normally so I normally delete the photo pretty soon, however some people love them; 411vm even released a whole video of them called 411′s 911.

Skate 2
August 11th, 2008 by Stephen Keable · No Comments
For those of you who have a Xbox 360 or PS3 and enjoyed skate well a sequel is on it’s way and looks pretty good. With Lucas Puig, John Cardiel and Eric Koston amongst new additions of skaters is a good start. Also with the added ability to get off your board, do No-Comply’s, Beanplants, Fastplants and Handplants. Looks like it’s going to be good, check out the trailer on the official site for more.

Croatia
August 6th, 2008 by Stephen Keable · No Comments
Earlier this year I went on holiday to Croatia with a friend from work, who found a good deal whilst laying out travel adverts at work and wanted someone to go with. I had never dreamed of going to the former Yugoslavian country on holiday, and decicied to go along with it as it was cheap and I was promised good weather and good food.

Benches and Angle Iron
August 5th, 2008 by Stephen Keable · 1 Comment
It’s amazing how long it took for someone to transform this place from the almost spot it’s been for years, into this great spot which is trapping many skaters.
All it took was a two benches bolted into the floor and a piece of angle iron stuck to a ledge. Now everyone forgets the old concrete ledge they had to put up with for so long.
