For whatever reason I never got around to shooting some photos and putting together a little article about Lowestoft Skatepark, in Normanston Park. It’s been open since October 2009 and it well worn in by now. There’s a competition and jam on Sunday 29th August being organised by Smash Skates and Park East, so let the photos and video below whet your appetite for Sunday.

Evening at Norwich Skatepark
July 31st, 2010 by Stephen Keable · No Comments
Thursday night was spent at Norwich Skatepark getting bitten by flies and also a little roll around on a skateboard too. Also testing out my new Sigma DP1 camera, which the above photo was taken with, visit my flickr for more photos taken with it recently.
Oh and have a look at the video below of Josh Buck and Will Peck.

Norwich Skatepark Opening Jam
July 25th, 2010 by Stephen Keable · 2 Comments
Despite being open and skateable for several weeks now, the Norwich Skatepark had it’s official opening on 24th July, with a skate jam, demo and competition. The demos came from a mix of Shiner and Death team riders. Also a multi age group competition organised by Drugstore Skateboarding.
The day saw a decent turn and black clouds that passed by without any rain, so plenty of skating went down. Below are a load of photos from the day and a little clip of a few people skating the bowl.

Norwich Skatepark Grand Opening
July 21st, 2010 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

The above doodles by Sam at Drug Store should explain everything, but if not it’s the Eaton Skatepark Grand Opening on Saturday 24th July. It should be a swell day for roller planking.
PS Sunday 25th July is the BMX day organised by Revolutionz too

World Cup leaves skatepark empty
July 7th, 2010 by Stephen Keable · 1 Comment
Went down Norwich skatepark tonight and managed to get the park almost to myself, I think it was down to the kids on sikes watching the World Cup semi final, maybe. Anyway shot the above little panorama (Click it to see it a bit larger) using my new phone, also filmed a little trick with Josh Buck.
If you are not fussed by the world cup final, head down the skatepark, it might just be empty on Sunday.

First Photos From Norwich Skatepark
May 24th, 2010 by Stephen Keable · 7 Comments
Norwich Skatepark is not finished yet I have been informed, and that the police may be involved, so I would not encourage anyone to skate it before the fence is down.
Further update: Undesirables (rude boys?) have become attracted to the park now that people are skating it (even though they shouldn’t) and a JCB bucket was dropped into the bowl, which means it will need to be patched and take slightly longer than expected. It’s recommended everyone waits until the fence is down officially so to to attract further problems.
So word seemed to get around pretty quick that the new Norwich skatepark was skateable, with maybe 40 people on bikes and boards showing up on Tuesday night as the builders were leaving, so they left the fence open so the fence didn’t get broken by anyone climbing over it.
The park is probably 99% finished with all the concrete set and skateable, although it’s still a building site whilst they do the landscaping. This means you shouldn’t really be on it as we were told by a couple of people from the council, although they couldn’t really stop everyone once they were on there. Although some burly builders to arrive later on to give everyone the boot.

Norwich Skatepark 27th April Update
April 30th, 2010 by Stephen Keable · 1 Comment

Went up to the site of the new skatepark at Eaton Park last night after work, some more of the concrete has been laid now, couple of bits look almost done. Apparently the council is aiming for it to be open by the Late May bank Holiday. Taken some more photos which can be seen below.
NOTE: As with any new skatepark don’t skate it until it’s done, even if it looks dry and ready, the cement can take a few weeks to set fully.

Rode up to the new Norwich skatepark at Eaton Park today to see how its coming along. Looks like the finishing date of May could be within in grasp, with most of the coping in place and concrete already laid on the horizontal sections. More photos below.

Sheringham Skatepark Design Chosen
March 17th, 2010 by Stephen Keable · No Comments

The winning design for the new concrete Sheringham Skatepark has been chosen after the public vote last weekend. Maverick Industries, were the winning contractor who created Scarborough, Merthyr and Dorchester skateparks which all look bangin! I’m personally not too sure on the sail boat in the middle but the rest looks pretty cool.
